As an incoming international student, you probably have lots of questions to ask, either academically, or more generally about your time at U of T.
What is better than getting feedback from a current U of T student?
The International Student Experience (ISE) Ambassador Program and Bridging Connections Mentorship Program connect you with current students.
International Student Experience (ISE) Ambassador Program
CIE has a team of International Student Experience (ISE) Ambassadors that are here to support you as you begin your transition to U of T. The ISE Ambassadors are upper year undergrad and graduate students who have had similar experiences that you are having now and want to offer their support. If you are on campus, come say hi to them in person at CIE’s Resource and Information Hub or you can always connect with them for any questions or concerns via email.
Don’t forget that there are lots of other resources available for international students prior to your arrival, or once in Toronto.

Hello everyone!
My name is Becky (she/her), and I’m a Master of Education student in the Higher Education program at OISE. Originally from Hong Kong, I completed my undergraduate studies at UTM, where I also supported international students through peer mentorship and international programming.
Having experienced the transition to university in Canada, I understand how important it is to find a welcoming community and know where to seek support. I’m excited to be part of the ISE Ambassador team and help international students feel more connected and confident throughout their journey at UofT!
Mina
Hi everyone!
My name is Mina, and I’m in my 5th year, double majoring in Classics and Biodiversity and Conservation Biology with a minor in Environmental Biology. I studied abroad in Scotland at the University of St. Andrews during my third year.
I’m very excited to support the international student body at U of T as an ISE ambassador this year! I hope to help students have an easier time navigating this university and making the most of their time here. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone!

My name is Nicolas (he/him) and I’m a fourth year undergraduate student in architectural studies. I’m originally from Toronto but I’ve found great pleasure in experimenting with the university’s diverse international offerings, mainly by way of a year long exchange in Paris!
Having been an exchange student myself, I look forward to being able to help incoming U of T students in my shoes, blending my passion for international experience with my love of Toronto!

Hi everyone,
My name is Taffy; I am a 4th year Rotman Commerce student. I am from Nigeria, but I grew up in the UK, before coming to UofT. Outside of school I love travelling, eating out and anything sport related, so feel free to talk about sports with me, especially football (soccer).
Having experienced the frictions of moving to a new city, I understand how difficult it is to transition and adjust. Therefore, I am excited to support incoming and active students through my role as an ISE ambassador and help students feel settled at UofT.

My name is Tinu, and I’m a third-year psychology specialist originally from Calgary.
I’m no stranger to feeling out of place in new spaces and joined the CIE to be a part of the team which exists to support students feeling the same way. I’m honored to work alongside the CIE and hope to connect with you!

My name is Vincent (he/him), and I’m a PhD candidate in the Department of History. Originally from China, I’ve been part of the U of T community as a student, an employee, and a volunteer. These experiences have helped me appreciate the value of learning from people from diverse backgrounds.
Outside of school and work, I enjoy playing soccer, making terrariums, and visiting historical sites.

Bridging Connections Mentorship Network
The Bridging Connections Mentorship Network aims to provide incoming international students with support as they transition into university life. The program will connect upper-year peer student mentors with newly admitted international students. Peer mentors are volunteers who will serve as the first point of contact for incoming international students to support their transition to the University of Toronto. Peer mentors will share firsthand experiences navigating resources and referrals, facilitate connections, and foster a sense of belonging. BCMN is a series of events running from August to October 2026. Perspective mentees and mentors will have to attend 1 of 3 orientation sessions on the following dates: August 20, 24, or 26, 2026. For all those interested, please fill out the Expression of Interest form below:
