On the anniversary of Hip Hop at 50, Hart House and CIE invite you to a unique end of year celebration inspired by the humble beginnings of Hip Hop.  In 1973 DJ Kool Herc and his sister Cindy Campbell hosted the definitive block party – signified by a large sound system, food, and creative expression, the origin story of Hip Hop began.  Fast forward to today and Hip Hop is now the world’s largest commodity, spanning, fashion, performance, dj-ing, visual art, language, sport, self-entrepreneurship and just an overall cool attitude. Hip Hop has grown and blended with many different musical styles and is expressed in many unique ways around the globe. Whether you’re into the classic early years, a 90’s era champion, or a fan of current hip hop, you’ll enjoy the sounds of Hip Hop and all its musical off-shoots.

Hourly activations include hip hop dance routines, break-dancing, hip-hop trivia and prizes.  Take part in a basketball skills challenge, make a craft, try out a henna tattoo, learn to tag or just chill while enjoying food and drink with friends and friends to be.
